How to Buy Wholesale iPhones: The B2B Buyer's Guide (2026)

Who actually buys iPhones in bulk

The wholesale iPhone market is not one market. It is four or five distinct buyer profiles that happen to bid on the same hardware, and the first mistake new buyers make is copying the sourcing strategy of a business that is nothing like theirs.

• Resellers — online marketplace sellers and trading companies who flip stock quickly. They care about landed cost, model velocity and return rates, and they usually want mixed lots so no single SKU dominates their exposure.
• Refurbishers — workshops that buy functional-but-worn stock cheap, replace screens, batteries and housings, then sell up a tier. Their margin lives in the labour delta, so they hunt the lower condition tiers deliberately.
• Retailers — physical shops and chains that need consistent cosmetic quality and a warranty story they can pass to walk-in customers. They pay a premium for predictability, not for the phones themselves.
• Exporters — traders moving stock between price zones, typically out of hubs like Hong Kong into markets where the same device retails higher. Their game is logistics, customs and currency, and their tolerance for supplier risk is the lowest of anyone on this list because they are often pre-sold before they buy.

Know which one you are before you request a single quote. It determines the channel you should buy from, the condition tier that fits your economics, and how much verification overhead is rational for your order size.

Sourcing channels compared

Wholesale iPhones reach the secondary market through a handful of channels. Each has a legitimate role; each has a failure mode that has burned real buyers. Here is the honest comparison.

Most professional buyers end up with a blend: an authorized or carrier relationship for baseline volume where they can meet the minimums, plus a hub spot wholesaler for flexibility, model gaps and speed. The spot channel is where a small or mid-size buyer gets treated like a real account — a live catalog such as the Voltaxion iPhone catalog reprices every 30 minutes against the market, which is something no quarterly carrier contract will do for you.

Condition tiers are the real price list

Two pallets of the same model can differ enormously in value purely on condition tier. When you buy wholesale, you are not really buying "iPhones" — you are buying a specific promise about packaging, cosmetics, function and warranty. Voltaxion's catalog uses seven tiers, defined in full on the grading page:

• Brand new — factory sealed, never activated, manufacturer warranty. You pay for the box and the seal as much as the phone.
• CPO — Apple Certified Refurbished with Apple warranty. The strongest warranty story available on non-sealed stock.
• Refurbished Grade A / Grade AB / Grade B — tested, reset, activation-lock-free units with a defined cosmetic standard that steps down as the letter does.
• Asis+ — new-quality hardware without the retail box. Often the best value-per-unit in the catalog for sellers whose customers never see a shelf.
• Asis — fully functional, activation-lock-free, but sold without a cosmetic promise. This is refurbisher feedstock, not junk.

How tiers change your unit economics

Work the arithmetic backwards from your selling channel. A retailer selling over a counter recovers the Brand new premium because the customer pays for the seal. An online seller usually cannot — buyers on marketplaces compare on price and battery health, not on shrink-wrap — which is why Asis+ and Refurbished Grade A dominate that segment. A refurbisher should be modelling parts and labour per unit against the spread between Asis and the grade they can bring it up to; if that spread is thinner than their bench cost, they should be buying the higher tier outright instead.

Warranty is part of the same equation. Manufacturer coverage on Brand new and Apple coverage on CPO are sellable features you can pass downstream. On the other tiers you inherit the wholesaler's guarantee — at Voltaxion, a 30-day functional guarantee on Asis and Asis+ and on Grade A/AB, 14 days on Grade B, with a 48-hour DOA window from proof of delivery, all documented on the warranty policy. Read the equivalent policy from any supplier you evaluate, because a cheap lot with no recourse is not cheap. Verify the supplier before you wire anything

Every experienced buyer has either lost money to a fake wholesaler or knows someone who has. The scam is nearly always the same shape: a professional-looking price list slightly below market, pressure to wire quickly "before the lot is gone", and a beneficiary account that does not quite match the company you think you are paying. The defence is boring, procedural and extremely effective:

1. Registry lookup. A real company exists in a government registry. A Hong Kong wholesaler will have a Companies Registry number — Voltaxion Limited's is CR 80422270 — and you can verify incorporation online in minutes. No registry entry, no wire. A freshly incorporated company is not automatically fraudulent, but it changes how much you should send on order one.
2. Bank-account name match. The beneficiary name on the wire instructions must match the registered company name exactly. "Similar" is a red flag. Personal accounts, third-party companies, or a last-minute email changing the bank details are how most wire fraud actually executes. Confirm account details over a second channel (a phone or video call, not a reply to the same email thread) before sending.
3. Talk to a human on video. A wholesaler that takes the call, shows stock, and answers grading questions in detail is demonstrating something no website can fake cheaply.
4. Small first order. Whatever the discount for volume, the first order's job is not margin — it is to test the pipe end to end: quote accuracy, packing quality, grading honesty, shipping speed, and how the supplier behaves when you raise a discrepancy. Size it so that total loss would be annoying, not damaging.

This topic deserves its own page, and it has one: How to avoid wholesale scams covers the fraud patterns — cloned websites, escrow tricks, too-good pricing — in detail.

MOQ mechanics: why mixed-SKU minimums exist

Minimum order quantities confuse buyers coming from retail, so here is the logic from the other side of the table. A wholesaler's cost per order is mostly fixed: quoting, allocation, testing, packing, export paperwork, payment handling. Below a certain order value those costs eat the margin, so a floor exists. But a rigid "100 pieces of one model" floor would lock out precisely the professional small buyers a spot wholesaler wants — so the modern structure is a two-level minimum with mixing allowed.

Voltaxion's version: new phones and computers start at 1 unit per SKU (5 for EU stock), new iPad and Apple Watch at 5 per SKU, accessories and audio, including AirPods, at 10 per SKU, ASIS and ASIS+ at 20 per SKU, and Used at 50 units combined across Used SKUs. The per-SKU floor keeps picking efficient (nobody profitably picks single units from bulk stock), while the order-level floor covers the fixed costs. For you as a buyer, mixing is the real feature: a 50-piece order can span several iPhone generations, storage sizes and condition tiers from the Apple catalog, which means your first order doubles as a market test across your whole intended range instead of a single concentrated bet. Diversifying SKUs on early orders is also basic risk management — if one model's local resale price moves against you while the goods are in the air, it is a fraction of the order, not all of it.

From quote to DHL: what a clean order flow looks like

A professional wholesale purchase is a sequence of documents, each of which protects you. If a supplier wants to skip steps, that tells you something. The reference flow, using Voltaxion's process as the example:

1. Access and KYC. Serious wholesalers gate live pricing behind buyer verification — it keeps retail tourists out and is itself a positive signal. At Voltaxion this is the application for access: company details, KYC, then portal credentials.
2. Quote. You build a cart from live stock and request a quote. The quote should state, in writing: exact SKUs with condition tier, unit prices in a stated currency (USD here), Incoterm, and validity. Voltaxion quotes carry a 24-hour price lock — the market moves, so open-ended quotes do not exist in this trade.
3. Acceptance and payment. On acceptance you receive an invoice with bank details — run the name-match check every time, even with a known supplier. Payment is by wire, in full and in USD, to the company's named account; goods are dispatched only once the funds have arrived. Match your wire reference to the invoice number so allocation is unambiguous.
4. Allocation and dispatch. Stock is allocated against your paid invoice, packed with a packing list per carton, and handed to the courier. Ex-Hong Kong, DHL Express typically reaches Europe, the Gulf or North America in two to four working days.
5. Incoterms and customs. Confirm the term before comparing any two quotes. Voltaxion's default is EXW Hong Kong under its Terms of Sale, and other Incoterms apply only by written agreement. You are the importer of record: you (or your broker) file the import entry and settle duty and VAT locally. Phones carry little or no import duty in many markets, but import VAT (often around 20%) applies and is your cost, so get your broker's or forwarder's clearance quote and build VAT, duty and fees into your landed cost before comparing a Hong Kong price with a domestic one.
6. Tracking to POD. The proof-of-delivery timestamp matters contractually: it starts your DOA and inspection clocks. Diarise it.

Buyers running volume eventually stop clicking through portals at all and pull stock and pricing programmatically — see integrations for API access to the live feed.

On receipt: IMEI and serial checks

Discipline at goods-in is where good buyers separate from lucky ones. The window to claim is short everywhere in this industry — 48 hours from POD at Voltaxion — so inspection is a same-day job, not a when-we-get-to-it job.

• Photograph before you open. Cartons, seals, shipping labels. If there is transit damage or a shortage, this is your evidence.
• Count against the invoice, per SKU and per condition tier, before any unit leaves the receiving bench.
• IMEI checks on a sample for large orders, or every unit if your volume allows. For each IMEI: confirm activation lock (Find My iPhone) is off — a locked unit is unsellable and an automatic claim; run a blacklist/lost-stolen check against a GSMA-derived database; and confirm the IMEI's model, storage and colour match both the physical unit and your order lines.
• Serial cross-check against Apple's coverage lookup on Brand new and CPO units, where warranty status is part of what you paid for.
• Functional and battery sampling appropriate to tier: screens, cameras, Face ID, charging, and battery health consistent with the grade promised.

Log everything — IMEI, grade received, any defect — in a spreadsheet at minimum. When a discrepancy appears, a claim with per-unit evidence filed inside the window gets resolved; a vague complaint a week later does not, with any supplier. At Voltaxion, disputes are filed through the portal and tracked under VX-DSP references, so both sides argue from the same record.
